Experience Pays Dividends At Wanda Tradies One Club Summer of Surf

The Wanda Tradies One Club Summer of Surf saw over 400 athletes from 35 clubs do battle in tricky but fun conditions for a rapid morning of Summer of Surf action at Wanda Beach, Sydney. 

Wanda Director of Surf Sports Greg Pierce was thrilled at the level of racing. 

“The athletes all did such an amazing job tackling the surf and we got to watch some absolutely world class racing go down. It was great to see such an incredible turn out of athletes and we are stoked to celebrate our seventh Wanda Tradies One Club event today!”

The event was the third instalment in the Shaw and Partners Summer of Surf Series with 5,000 points on the line for first place and experience paid dividends.

Fresh off a successful Iron Series Trials Jay Furniss (Cronulla) was able to take the win ahead of North Bondi’s Charlie Verco and club mate Nathan Jay while the women iron saw the successful return to racing from Wandas Britney Pierce who held off the always in form Lizzie Welborn (Newport) and Analise Kibble. 

Overall ski honours went to Luke Morrison (Newport) and Elyssa Pierce (Wanda) while North Cronulla young gun Cruze McKee has exploded onto the board paddling scene with a breakthrough win in the open mens board. 

Lizzie Welborn continued her dominance in the board race and Noah Steiner wrapped up an excellent day of racing with a swim victory to back up his 4th place finish in the ironman and 3rd place in the board. 

The Summer of Surf now heads to the Sunshine Coast for the Shaw and Partners Hayden Kenny Classic taking place the 2nd & 3rd of December.
