The Shaw and Partners Summer of Surf heads to the wild west for the second instalment of a stacked summer schedule with the City of Perth 5,000 taking place Sunday 20th November with over $4,000 up for grabs!
The City of Perth carnival will see a perfect opportunity for Western Australian athletes to have their first short course hit out of the summer while earning prize money and valuable Summer of Surf points and build momentum into the Shaw and Partners Hayden Kenny Classic in a fortnights time.
The City of Perth Summer of Surf falls inside the Shaw and Partners Race Week which features multiple ocean ski racing events and a whopping $260,000 prize pool seeing athletes from across the globe migrate to Perth for the week.
City of Perth’s Director of Surf Sports Andrew Young is looking forward to hosting the event in WA.
“We are so pumped for this Sunday’s event and know there is going to be some incredible racing go down. It will be great to see the WA athletes earning Summer of Surf points to set up their summer and taking home some prizemoney for their efforts. With confirmed entries from Georgia Miller, Carla Papac, Harriet Brown, Bella Williams, Will Savage and Wes Gould we look forward to seeing our athletes go head-to-head with some of the best in the business.”
Former Trigg Island and current Surfers Paradise Ironman Will Savage is fresh off an eleventh-place finish in the Iron Series Trials and is excited to race in his home state.
“I definitely miss living in Perth so to be able to come back and race while catching up with friends and family is something I am really looking forward to!”
